Following on from a career in retail management, Jemma has been a professional gardener since 2013 and has successfully completed both The Royal Horticultural Society RHS II at Lackham College and RHS III, Principles of Garden Planting, Construction and Planning with Distinction.
Jemma has been closely involved with design and renovation work on many garden projects of all sizes, as well as managing and implementing planting schemes and soft landscaping. She has managed some significant Georgian garden renovation and replanting projects in central Bath at The Royal Crescent as well as The Circus and many more rural projects in Somerset and Wiltshire. Jemma has attained the experience, skill and understanding that these Listed properties require and is also knowledgeable about planning law relating to statutory listings.
Jemma is the head gardener and manager for the garden maintenance element of Bath Garden Design. She heads up regular visits to gardens and manages the horticultural work. She is very experienced in general garden maintenance, pruning techniques, lawn care and plant knowledge. Maintenance clients include the Duchy of Cornwall, two large Rectories on the outskirts of Bath, as well as many city centre gardens. Her valuable hands-on experience means that she understands every element of gardens as well as their needs.
As part of her career development, Jemma has undertaken a garden design course with the Horticultural Correspondence College. She has a keen eye for creative design and paired with the knowledge gained from years of practical work in gardens, this has lead to the desire to expand on her knowledge and learn more about the field. Jemma has worked closely with Emma on many of our design projects over the last few years and thoroughly enjoys seeing gardens go from ideas, through the planning stages, to the final presentation and then seeing the gardens created and come to life.
Tim made a career change in 2014 and trained to become a professional gardener through the Women’s Farm and Garden Association Scheme. He has been working with Emma and her team for more than four years and is currently completing his Royal Horticultural Society training in the Theory of Horticulture. He enjoys the challenge of working in listed gardens in Bath as well as being a key member of the garden maintenance team and his interests cover all areas of horticulture and developing skills in pruning and training of trees and plants. Tim loves working outdoors and being in touch with the changing seasons, having worked in an office for most of his working life. Tim has a good eye for detail and enjoys the satisfaction of working on our many projects from start to finish and seeing how they evolve. Tim brings a cheerful, can-do attitude to the team and is an enthusiastic member of the team.
